We’re delighted to welcome contemporary artist Imogen Morris back to Bankside Hotel for her second Artist in Residence, in partnership with Contemporary Collective.
Running from 29 June to 20 September 2026, the residency will see Imogen transform some of London’s most iconic landmarks into intricate nail and thread artworks, inspired by the vibrant cultural landscape that surrounds Bankside Hotel.
Drawing on the architecture that defines the South Bank and beyond, Imogen will recreate landmarks including St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben and the OXO Tower using her distinctive hand-crafted technique. Layering thread around precisely positioned nails, each artwork gradually evolves into a beautifully detailed composition that captures the character of London’s skyline in an entirely new way.
Guests are invited to visit the Art Yard Makers Studio throughout the residency to see the artworks take shape, meet the artist during selected sessions and experience the creative process firsthand.
Imogen’s work combines the precision of geometry with the delicacy of thread, producing striking contemporary pieces that celebrate both craftsmanship and architecture. A First Class Fine Art and Art History graduate from Kingston University, her practice has become recognised for transforming familiar subjects into beautifully intricate works of art.
