We’re delighted to welcome multidisciplinary artist Ken Nwadiogbu to Bankside Hotel as our latest Artist in Residence, in partnership with Contemporary Collective.
This residency is particularly special to us, as Ken won the Painting Category at the 2025 Signature Art Prize, which Bankside Hotel proudly sponsors and hosts in our White Box gallery. We’re thrilled to welcome him back, this time to create within our Art Yard Makers Studio.
Working across painting, sculpture, installation and video, Ken’s practice explores themes of identity, migration, cultural memory and belonging. Originally trained as a civil engineer, he began his artistic journey creating hyperrealistic charcoal portraits before developing a distinctive visual language that combines figurative painting, expressive abstraction and layered storytelling.
Drawing on his personal experiences of migration and navigating different cultural identities, Ken creates thought-provoking works that invite viewers to reflect on representation, memory and the connections between people and places.
Guests are invited to visit the Art Yard Makers Studio throughout his residency to see his creative process unfold, discover his work and gain an insight into the ideas and experiences that shape his practice.
