This summer, Bankside Hotel welcomes Material Worlds, a new exhibition curated by Contemporary Collective x DA Gallery, exploring the relationship between fine art, textiles, craft and design.
Running from 20 July until the end of September 2026, the exhibition brings together five contemporary artists whose practices celebrate the beauty of material, process and craftsmanship. Featuring painting, textiles, sculpture and mixed media, Material Worlds explores how thread, pigment, plaster, wood, wax, fabric and found materials can be transformed into works that are both visually striking and deeply tactile.

The exhibition is particularly significant for Bankside Hotel, with three of the featured artists having previously taken part in the hotel’s Artist in Residence programme. Their inclusion alongside new exhibiting artists reflects the lasting creative relationships that continue to grow through Bankside’s partnership with Contemporary Collective x DA Gallery and its ongoing commitment to supporting contemporary artists.

The exhibition celebrates thoughtful craftsmanship, material exploration and the enduring value of making by hand.

Working across a diverse range of disciplines, each artist offers a distinctive interpretation of texture, form and process. Together, their works invite visitors to slow down, look closely and discover the stories that emerge through material and making.

Material Worlds will be on display in the White Box Gallery at Bankside Hotel from 20 July until the end of September 2026. Whether you’re staying at the hotel, exploring Bankside or simply looking to discover new contemporary art, we invite you to visit and experience this inspiring collection.
