Step inside the creative process as Nicola Hyslop takes up residence at Bankside Hotel, in partnership with Contemporary Collective.
From 30 March to 28 June 2026, our Art Yard Makers Studio becomes a living, evolving space where guests are invited to experience art in motion. Nicola, a British contemporary abstract expressionist, explores colour, movement and the emotional texture of lived experience through her work.
During her residency, she will develop a new large-scale series, The Rhythm of Memory: An Intuitive Exploration. These paintings unfold as emotional landscapes, where personal memories are translated into gestural marks, layered textures and dynamic compositions. Rather than following a fixed plan, each work emerges intuitively, shaped by spontaneity and the raw energy of the moment.
