Bankside, in partnership with Contemporary Collective, have launched a ‘Taste of Art’ series, offering guests the chance to take part in an interactive art and design workshop with a Bankside artist in residence, followed by a three course dinner at Art Yard Bar & Kitchen.

Guests can learn the artist’s  process and exercise their own creative skills during a workshop set within our artists’ studio. The sessions will be followed by a delicious 3-course meal prepared by ArtYard’s Head Chef Stephen Englefield, which guests will be able to enjoy in the main restaurant. 

Tickets cost from £45 and include the workshop and 3-course meal in Art Yard with welcome drink.

Imogen Morris Nail & Thread Workshop & 3 Course Lunch

Join Artist in Residence Imogen Morris for a 3 hour workshop in the ArtYard studio, followed by a three course meal at the Art Yard Bar & Kitchen, all located at the Bankside Hotel. Tickets cost £49.50 and include the workshop and a 3 course lunch in Art Yard Kitchen.

EVENT ENDED - Saturday 30th July, 11am – 2pm: Nail & Thread Adult Workshop

Join Imogen Morris in a 3 hour workshop where you will create an eye based template. Explore and engage in the process of under-layer of paint and abstract shapes in different thread – made by drilling holes into board and then stitching into board. Once this is complete, you will make eye over the top – tap into template, remove template tap nails into holes, thread around nails. Imogen will demonstrate each stage as you move through the workshop.

EVENT ENDED - Wednesday 22nd June, 6 - 8pm: Visualising Birdsong and Collage Workshop

Join Lucy Stevens for her first in person workshop at Bankside Hotel. Collage beautiful imagery of birds and nature from magazines and books. Bring these images to life by layering with the songs and calls of nature using paint, pencil, ink, wax and oil pastels. We will listen to a selection of field recordings gathered by Lucy in London and across the UK which feature birdsong.

EVENT ENDED Thursday 26th May, 6 - 9pm: Meet the Artist Dinner- Sophie Derrick

Join artist Sophie Derrick for an evening of culture and cuisine in the private dining room at Art Yard. Enjoy a ‘round the table’ discussion about her practice and approach whilst experiencing a three-course visual feast prepared by Head Chef Stephen Englefield, accompanied by half a bottle of wine and a drink on arrival. Sophie will begin the session in the artists’ studio, demonstrating how she achieves her colourful and visually striking paintings.

EVENT ENDED Saturday 7th May, 3pm-5pm: Embroidery Technique Workshop

Join Artist in Residence Kelly Jenkins for a special workshop focused on her signature embroidery technique which you can see in all of the paintings she produces. The workshop will start with a demo from Kelly followed by an embroidery tutorial where attendees will have the chance to stitch into Kelly's art and take a piece home with them. Following the event, attendees will have the option to dine at Bankside's Art Yard Bar & Restaurant for a special discounted price.

EVENT ENDED Saturday 23rd April, 12:30 - 2:30pm: Plein Air Sketching & Painting Workshop

View and experience London from a different perspective in this 2 hour Plein Air Sketching and Painting Event on the Thames at low tide. This event will take place at the Bankside Foreshore and Bankside Beach by Blackfriars Bridge and 5 mins from the hotel.
