Family Stays at Bankside

A creative London base made for curious minds, big and small

At Bankside Hotel, family stays are anything but ordinary. More than a place to stay, it’s a social hub in the heart of London’s South Bank, where creativity lives around every corner. Whether you’re travelling with toddlers, teens or somewhere in between, there’s always something to spark imagination and keep everyone engaged.

Perfectly positioned near Tate Modern, South Bank Centre, London Eye and SEA LIFE London Aquarium, the hotel offers an ideal base for family-friendly things to do in central London. With thoughtful in-hotel experiences, family-friendly rooms and excellent access to the London Underground, every stay is designed to feel creative, flexible and full of discovery.

Inspiring Creativity

From the moment you arrive at Bankside Hotel, little explorers are welcomed into a world of art and play, one they’re invited to step into and be part of.

It begins with the Doodle Squad, a playful introduction where creativity is woven into every moment. Each child receives a ‘Doodle Squad’ pack, complete with an arrival letter, sketchbook, activity book and personalised key card, an imaginative welcome designed to inspire exploration and hands-on creativity from the start.

Created by London-based artist Frankie Curtis, the characters bring humour, energy and personality to the experience. A former Artist-in-Residence, his work reflects the hotel’s creative community and spirit.

That creativity flows throughout the space, from artist mannequins at the entrance to the mezzanine’s playful see-saw seating, inviting both children and grown-ups to interact, explore and join in.

Rooms and Thoughtful Add-Ons, Made for Little Guests

At Bankside Hotel, flexible rooms are designed with families in mind, from the two-bed Family Collection to spacious suites with plenty of room to unwind and feel at home. It’s the thoughtful details that make each stay special, whether that’s transforming your room with an in-room tipi for storytelling and play, adding an easel to create a mini art studio, or returning to cookies and milk after a day of exploring London. Each touch is designed to feel personal, playful and just that little bit magical.

Step Into the Neighbourhood

The real magic begins outside. Bankside sits at the heart of London’s most vibrant cultural playground, where world-famous attractions meet spontaneous street creativity. Just moments away, Tate Modern’s UNIQLO Tate Play programme brings art to life with free, hands-on activities, while Leake Street Arches offers an ever-changing canvas of street art. You’re also within easy reach of family favourites, from the London Eye and SEA LIFE London Aquarium to Shrek’s Adventure! London and The Paddington Bear Experience.

In summer, the South Bank comes alive with festivals, pop-ups and outdoor performances, and fresh air and freedom come as standard. Wander along the Thames for riverside views, street performers and space to explore, cool off in Appearing Rooms, spot the bubbleologist drifting giant bubbles into the sky, or discover Ernie’s Beach near Gabriel’s Wharf, a hidden sandy stretch perfect for a runaround or a well-earned ice cream break.

Refuel, Recharge, Repeat

When it’s time to pause, the neighbourhood is full of family-friendly cafés, restaurants and relaxed spots, all within easy reach. Back at the hotel, Art Yard serves up dishes for every appetite. Little ones can enjoy a two-course kids’ menu, priced at £16, designed to delight with colour and creativity. Expect playful touches, an art quiz and even a mini lesson in colour theory, because here, even mealtimes are part of the experience.
