London Design Festival

Sat, 17 Sep - Sun, 25 Sep

Bankside Hotel is excited to be a part of this 20th anniversary edition that will take place on 17–25 September 2022.

London Design Festival celebrates and promotes the city as a design capital on the global stage. Launched by Sir John Sorrell CBE and Ben Evans CBE in 2003. Building on London’s existing design activity, their concept was to create an annual event that would promote the city’s creativity, drawing in the country’s greatest thinkers, practitioners, retailers and educators to a deliver an unmissable celebration of design. The launch of the first Festival took place at Bloomberg on 25 March 2003, with a show of support from design, education, government and London organisations. 20 years later, this vision remains ever strong.

Our neighbourhood is one of London’s most creative and cultural hubs and will therefore host the festival’s Bankside Design District. It is a place with a rich industrial heritage and home to world-famous destination brands such as Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and Borough Market, making it one of the most visited districts in London and an area of landmark commercial and residential developments. For London Design Festival, Bankside Design District celebrates the area’s thriving creative and design industries.

The Bankside Design District is coordinated by Better Bankside, a partnership of over 850 businesses in Bankside, London SE1. Better Bankside, a Business Improvement District, exists to make Bankside a better place to live, work and visit. A Business Improvement District (BID) is an independent, business-owned and led company, which seeks to improve a given location for commercial activity. Expect a packed programme of events showcasing the very best in design, craft and innovation from public realm activations.
