Our current artist in residence, ottelien huckin will be hosting an intimate ‘meet the artist’ evening event at Bankside Hotel’s studio space.
Current artist in residence Ottelien Huckin, will talk about the unique experience of working from the hotel's studio and display the artwork she has produced whilst in residence. She will discuss her practice and share her inspiration and influences including the immediacy of an encounter and the fragility of a memory.
Ottelien is a Bath and London based artist. Graduating from a degree in Fine Art: Painting at the Edinburgh College of Art in 2016 and a diploma from The Sotheby’s Institute: Foundations of Western History of Art in 2018, She has previously exhibited across the UK; including a solo show at 44AD artspace and gallery, Bath and The Mall Galleries, London with The Royal Society of British Artists: RBA Rome Scholarship. Most recently, Ottelien was a finalist for The Signature Art Prize 2019, showing her work at Bankside Hotel and Trinity Art Gallery, London.
Ottelien Huckin is part of an ever-changing programme of artists in residence at Bankside Hotel’s maker's studio. Bankside provides a permanent creative space and working with curators Contemporary Collective champion up-and-coming creatives, covering a wide range of disciplines including design, painting, sculpture, film, drawing, printmaking, installation, new media and photography. During their stay, Bankside guests are able to watch artists practice their creative expertise and so be taken on an informative and artistic journey.
